I recently read a thoughtful piece on the evolution of physical security leadership by Michael Brzozowski, MBA, PSP, CPP, CISSP (Link below). It reinforced something that I have observed throughout my career in security services, corporate security, security technology, and security innovation. Something that I had observed but could not exactly put my finger on. In short – the piece spoke about a shift from “asset protection” to “outcome protection” in modern security leadership.
After reading it, it became clear that many security technology companies, or companies that are selling security technology, are selling features when security leaders are buying outcomes.
